A History of Leisure Travel takes us on a wonderful journey through other people’s travels undertaken between 1750 and 1915. The maps and motivations of these trips, intriguing in themselves, also guide us to the political circumstances that limited or defined travel in the given period. Traveling for fun was interrupted during the Napoleonic Wars; but the amelioration of roads and building of museums within the Empire gave it new life.
