Waterloo Remembered: foyer exhibition and events at Dumfries Museum, Scotland

This foyer exhibition at Dumfries Museum explores the involvement of the local population in the Battle of Waterloo against Napoleon. Items on display include a Galloway Militia jacket recently restored by the Centre for Textile Conservation at Glasgow University and a model of a Napoleonic man-of-war gun made by a French prisoner of war. There is also extensive information on the French prisoners paroled and sent to the south of Scotland and the soldiers of Dumfries and Galloway who fought at Waterloo.

Geoff Hunter, Curator of Entomology at the Hunterian Museum, will be giving a free talk on the local soldier and antiquarian collector John Laskey. Booking required; please phone Dumfries Museum on (+44) 1387 253 374 to reserve your place.
